Dung Beetles

The "Do it with Dung" Project involved dung beetle monitoring and releases across North East Victoria and southern NSW. It was the largest dung beetle monitoring project undertaken in south-east Australia with over 100 people setting fortnightly traps between February 2009 and May 2010

Over 46,000 beetles were trapped. The most abundant species was Onthophagus taurus which was trapped at 58 sites. Thirteen species were trapped, of which nine were introduced species and four native species. The total number of introduced species trapped were 46.071 and the total number of native species trapped was 412.
